Broad-billed Roller - Eurystomus glaucurus afer

The Broad-billed Roller is found throughout tropical Africa and Madagascar, being absent only from the very driest areas. There are four sub-species, E. g. afer has a range which emulates that of the Blue-bellied Roller - from Senegal and The Gambia in the west to the northern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sudan in the east. This subspecies was once considered a full species and as such as several synonyms including; Coracias glaucurus, Eurystomus afer, and Eurystomus orientalis calonyx.
