(African) Common Moorhen - Gallinula chloropus meridionalis

The Common Moorhen is a species of the Eastern Hemisphere. At one time it was lumped with, what is now, the Common Gallinule of the Western Hemisphere into one species. Fulica chloropus and Fulica fusca are scientific synonyms for the species. There are currently five recognized subspecies. The subspecies shown here has a range limited to Sub-Saharan Africa and Saint Helena. The video framegrab shown here is of an individual recorded in The Gambia during November 2018 - video link.
