Godwit, Bar-tailed

Bar-tailed Godwit - Limosa lapponica taymyrensis
The Gambia - November 2018

The Bar-tailed Godwit is a species of the Eastern Hemisphere, breeding in the north and wintering in the south.  It is known for having the longest non-stop flight of any bird species during migration (a flight of 7,258 miles has been recorded).  The taxonomy is not settled, there may be five subspecies, some argue for three.  These framegrabs were taken from video recorded in The Gambia during November 2018 - video link.
